Notre Dame sniffed out Michigan State's rushing attack in the second quarter, holding the Spartans to 11 rush yards and the Fighting Irish now lead 14-3.

Notre Dame opened up the lead, 14-0, after marching down the field for a four-play, 51-yard drive that ended when Everett Golson took a quarterback draw all the way for a six-yard touchdown run.

Michigan State put the finishing touches on a 43-yard drive when Dan Conroy drilled a 49-yard field goal to make the score 14-3.

The Spartans will get the ball to start the second half.
