Nebraska gained 98 yards on the ground in the second, and the Cornhuskers now lead 28-3. A 59-yard drive that ended when Brian Davis drilled a 31-yard field goal helped Arkansas State narrow the deficit to 14-3.

Nebraska opened up the lead, 21-3, after Taylor Martinez found Kenny Bell open for a 25-yard touchdown pass to end a five-play, 72-yard drive. The Cornhuskers drove across midfield after Martinez's 27-yard run from the 31-yard line.

Nebraska added to its advantage when Ameer Abdullah turned a handoff into a two-yard touchdown, the last of a 10-play, 75-yard drive to give the Cornhuskers the lead, 28-3. Nebraska crossed midfield on Abdullah's 26-yard run from the 42-yard line. The Cornhuskers threw just one time on that possession.

Nebraska is set to receive to start the second half.
