Iowa's front seven stepped up in the second quarter, allowing Northern Iowa to gain just 20 rushing yards, and the Hawkeyes have taken the lead 17-13.

Iowa got things going through the air in the quarter, passing for 83 yards. Mark Weisman's one-yard touchdown run put the Hawkeyes on top 14-10, the finishing touch on an 11-play, 65-yard drive.

A 48-yard drive that ended when Tyler Sievertsen kicked a 22-yard field goal helped the Panthers narrow the deficit to 14-13.

Iowa made its lead 17-13 when Mike Meyer kicked a 23-yard field goal on the last play of a 10-play, 54-yard drive. The Hawkeyes crossed midfield on James Vandenberg's 26-yard pass to Kevonte Martin-Manley from the 40-yard line. Despite driving to Northern Iowa's four-yard line, Iowa had to settle for a field goal.

The Hawkeyes will receive to start the second half.
