In the first quarter, Penn State's Kyle Carter caught an eight-yard touchdown pass for the lone score. The Nittany Lions lead 7-0 at the end of the first quarter, thanks to Matt McGloin's touchdown pass on the opening drive that polished off a 17-play, 75-yard drive.

Virginia has the ball on Penn State's 44-yard line to begin the second quarter.
