The offense led Michigan State to 10 third-quarter points, and the Spartans now lead 34-0. Michigan State finished with 62 yards through the air and 71 on the ground in the quarter. The Spartans opened up the lead, 31-0, after Andrew Maxwell found Bennie Fowler open for a seven-yard touchdown pass to end a five-play, 65-yard drive. Michigan State's drive was highlighted by Maxwell's 48-yard pass.

The Spartans made their lead 34-0 when Dan Conroy drilled a 26-yard field goal on the last play of a nine-play, 68-yard drive. Michigan State used Larry Caper's 39-yard run to fuel the drive. The Spartans threw just one time during that series.

Michigan State's Fowler hauled in one catches for seven yards in the quarter to put him over 100 yards receiving for the game. Fowler has 100 yards on the day so far.

Central Michigan will start the fourth quarter with possession at its own 28-yard line.
