The offense led Purdue to 13 first-quarter points, and the Boilermakers lead 13-0 at the end of the first quarter. Purdue finished with 75 yards through the air and 94 on the ground in the quarter. The Boilermakers got on the scoreboard first, rattling off a five-play, 87-yard drive that ended in a score when Robert Marve found Gary Bush open for a four-yard touchdown pass.

Purdue made the score 13-0 when Landon Feichter intercepted a Jared McClain pass and returned it for a touchdown. The Boilermakers will start the second quarter with good field position on No. 21 Eastern Kentucky's 19-yard line.

The Boilermakers are without starting QB Caleb TerBush, who was suspended for "violation of team rules," according to @GoldandBlackcom.
