Minnesota LB wears late ex-teammate's number in opener
Every Minnesota football player will wear a patch on their jersey in honor of late ex-teammate Gary Tinsley during the 2012 season. For Thursday night’s season opener at UNLV, linebacker Keanon Cooper also will wear Tinsley’s old number, No. 51. Cooper normally wears No. 4. Talk about a great tribute for a former teammate and friend.
Tinsley died on April 6 in his campus apartment. He was 22.
