Northwestern announced Monday the commitment of defensive back Quinn Evans, a 2012 Stanford graduate who will pursue a master's degree and be eligible to compete in the 2012 season. A valuable contributor on special teams as well as at cornerback for the Cardinal, Evans will provide depth in Northwestern's secondary.

"I am extremely excited about the opportunity to finish my college football and academic careers at Northwestern," Evans said in a school release. "My visit to campus and the relationships I've developed with Coach Fitzgerald and other members of the Northwestern football program have left no doubt that NU is the right fit for me at this time."

There's also this from Northwestern:

Prater would be a big addition – literally and figuratively – for the Northwestern offense. The 6-5, 215-pound wide receiver not only boasts all the physical tools, but he was ranked as the nation's No. 3 prospect in the 2010 recruiting class, according to Rivals.com.

Depending on the decision, he'll either play this season and have three years of eligibility remaining or sit out this season and have two years of eligibility. Stay tuned.
