On Tuesday, the Big Ten Conference office announced it has suspended Purdue's Eric Charles and Indiana's Casey Smith for one game apiece for their roles in the bench-clearing brawl during Saturday night's 2012 Big Ten Baseball Tournament championship game. Charles will serve his suspension during Purdue's opening NCAA Championship game Friday, while Smith will be suspended for Indiana's 2013 season opener. Watch the play that resulted in the suspensions now.

According to a BigTen.org release, the conference determined the actions of Charles and Smith violated Big Ten Conference Agreement 10.01.1.A.1 – ?Striking or attempting to strike or otherwise physically abusing an official, opposing coach, spectator or athlete.?

The conference office also publicly reprimanded Charles and Smith for their actions. The Big Ten Conference considers this matter concluded and will have no further comment.
