Purdue women finish 9th at NCAA Championships

The 2012 NCAA Women’s Golf Championships came to a close Friday at the Legends Club North Course in Franklin, Tenn. Purdue finished ninth, its seventh consecutive top 10 finish, to headline the Big Ten competitors. Michigan State and Ohio State placed 20th and 22nd, respectively. The 29th-ranked Purdue women’s golf team earned its seventh-straight top-10 finish at the NCAA Championships in its 13th-consecutive appearance under head coach Devon Brouse. The Boilermakers shot a 299 on the final day, for a four-round total of 1182 which put them in ninth place.

The Michigan State women’s golf team finished in 20th place at the NCAA Championships as the four-round event concluded on Friday at the Legends Club North Course. The Spartans carded a team score of 1201 (296-311-294-300), which is a record low for the program at nationals (previous record: 1202 in 2002).

Notching its lowest round of the tournament by seven strokes, the No. 20 Ohio State women’s golf team carded a fourth round score of 296 to move up one slot and conclude the 2012 NCAA Championship in 22nd. Competing at the par 72, 6,377/6,264-yard Vanderbilt legends Golf Club in Franklin, Tenn., the Buckeyes totaled 1,211 at the 72-hole event to close the 2011-12 season.
