BTN Profiles Ohio State Softball's Alicia Herron
In the latest Big Ten player profile from the Big Ten Network, we meet Ohio State Buckeyes softball shortstop Alicia Herron, who lost her mother Janet Herron a year ago to gastric cancer. Herron’s mother was Alicia’s biggest fan attending every game and practice during her high school career. “She was really proud of us having a focus on something,” Alicia Herron said.
Alicia’s mother passed away in May 2011 on the same day that Ohio State played Michigan, an emotional day for both teams. “I believe in the names on the back of the jersey,” said Ohio State softball coach Linda Kalafatis in this feature,”because I believe you play just as much for the family name as you do for that school name.” Watch the entire feature here now and find a number of other BTN video profiles in our BTN Features section.
