The Big Ten did not have a team that was in the hunt for a berth in the BCS National Championship Game in the last month or so of last season's regular season. That's why I believe that the Big Ten was a little down even though the conference produced some really good games and plenty of bowl teams. It wasn't like previous years when Ohio State, Michigan, and Penn State were playing for a spot in the national title game in the final couple of or few weeks of the regular season. Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma State, Oregon, and Stanford were the top teams in the country last year.
