Purdue gives Motion "P" slight makeover

New Purdue Motion P

Purdue

Purdue isn’t just tinkering with its train logo (see it here), the motion “P” also will sport a slight makeover in the 2012-13 academic year. There will be a gold one, which the school says will serve as the primary logo, and a black one. As was the case with the new train logo, the gold is a lighter shade. See the new gold motion “P” in this post.

The change is nowhere near as dramatic as the changes made to the train — a look that received an 84 percent dislike in our poll. How do you feel about the new logo? Not sure what the difference is? Here’s a picture of the old one. Again, it’s minor.

Why do they need to change the colors???

Purdue has now completely made the transition from “Old Gold” to “Vegas Gold”, which sucks. I blame Joe Tiller’s wife.

They needed to change the colors because Nike told them to.

Don’t like the new color. What happened to “Old Gold”?

Upset on 4/28/2012 @ 1:37pm EDT Said:

Our color is OLD GOLD. Not gold or dark yellow or whatever. Old Gold. That color has significance, and it was chosen for a reason. Stop changing it!

JC on 5/1/2012 @ 11:58pm EDT Said:

Do we even know what Old Gold really is anymore? Purdue’s no longer the “Old Gold and Black”, we are the “Black and the 10,000 shades of yellow because we can’t agree on anything.”

Greg Lantz on 8/29/2012 @ 6:48pm EDT Said:

I know Old Gold when I see it and this new logo ain’t it! I would tell Nike to try again.

Steve Terhune on 11/29/2012 @ 3:25pm EDT Said:

Go back to Old Gold. I do not blindly endorse consultants (who are they?) with no real connection to Purdue changing what is ours.

I recall Dave & Barry’s only selling a Red (ouch) or Green Purdue scripted hoodie because their “consumer marketing study” told them that is what would sell in Lafayette!!

BTW, they are no longer in business.
