The Big Ten Conference released its Big Ten Men’s Basketball Players of the Week for Feb. 20-26 action on Monday. See the winners and what they did to earn the distinctions in this post. The women’s honors were released Monday, too.

Co-Players of the Week: Matt Gatens, Iowa, G – Sr. – 6-5 – Iowa City, Iowa – West

  • Averaged 27.5 points and 2.5 rebounds in two games last week
  • Scored a career-high 33 points and added three rebounds and three assists against No. 16/15 Wisconsin, shooting 66.7 percent (12-18) from the field, making seven of 10 from three-point range in the Hawkeyes’ 67-66 win
  • Posted 22 points and two boards on the road against Illinois, converting on five of six three-point attempts
  • Earns the first Player of the Week honor of his career

  • Recorded a season-high 29 points and added seven rebounds and two blocks in the Boilermakers’ 83-65 win over the Huskers
  • Tallied 17 points and nine rebounds in Purdue’s 75-61 road win against the Wolverines
  • Collects his fourth career weekly award and first this season

Freshman of the Week: Trey Burke, Michigan, G – 5-11 – Columbus, Ohio – Northland

  • Averaged 15.5 points, 4.0 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game last week
  • Led the Wolverines in scoring against Northwestern, posting 19 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals in the 67-55 overtime win
  • Scored 12 points and added four assists against Purdue
  • Reels in his second straight weekly award and sixth this season
