Head coach Jerry Kill and his crew emphasized the home state and the Gophers landed two of the state?s top three players and eight of the top ten. Leading the way are massive 6?9 offensive tackle Jonah Pirsig and Andre McDonald, a physical 6?3 wide receiver who was committed to Vanderbilt, but switched to the Gophers shortly before Signing Day.

The Gophers may have found a diamond in the rough in their backyard too in offensive tackle Ben Lauer, a 6?6 offensive tackle whose recruitment was hampered by a knee injury that kept him from attending many college summer camps.

The Gophers have two quarterbacks coming in, Phillip Nelson, who was a Marines All-American this year and Mitch Leidner. There are also several JUCO prospects who have a chance to play early, including defensive tackle Roland Johnson.
