Joe Coleman scored 23 points and grabbed five rebounds and Rodney Williams added 14 points and eight boards as they teamed up to lead Minnesota to an 80-66 victory  over Penn State on Sunday (box score). Lenzelle Smith Jr. scored 28 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lift No. 5 Ohio State to an 80-63 win over No. 8 Indiana (box score). In the third game of the day Wisconsin beat Nebraska 50-45 (box score).

Wisconsin 50, Nebraska 45: BOX | RECAP | SCOREBOARD

FINAL: Wisconsin used stingy defense to defeat Nebraska 50-45 on Sunday at the Kohl Center in Madison. Scoring that few points is rare for Nebraska (9-8), a team that came in averaging 62.1 points per game this season. Wisconsin (14-5) held the Cornhuskers to 33 percent shooting from the field and grabbed 24 defensive rebounds, while only allowing seven offensive rebounds. Jordan Taylor had a big performance for the Badgers, with 19 points and seven rebounds. Wisconsin struggled from the floor, shooting 33 percent (15-of-46). The Badgers shot 18-of-24 from the free throw line. Wisconsin also got a double-digit performance from Josh Gasser, who scored 12. More Nebraska scoring came from Bo Spencer, who scored 13. The Badgers won the rebounding battle en route to victory, pulling down 35 boards to 26 for Nebraska. Wisconsin never trailed in the game. The Badgers' largest lead was 11, which came midway through the second half.

HALFTIME: Wisconsin is on top 24-21 at halftime after outrebounding Nebraska 18-8 in the first half. The Badgers never trailed in the first half and led by as many as six points. Wisconsin has been effective inside, making 7-of-12 two-point field goals, but the Badgers have struggled on the perimeter, shooting 25 percent (2-of-8) from three-point range. Bo Spencer, the leading scorer this season for the Cornhuskers, has not made much of an impact through the first 20 minutes. The senior is averaging 14.9 per game for the year, but has just two points at the break. Wisconsin's Jordan Taylor had a big first half, with eight points. Caleb Walker is putting together a nice game so far for Nebraska. The senior has four points.

Leading 62-57 with 3:54 remaining, Minnesota (14-5) used a 15-4 spurt to open its cushion to 16 points with 1:01 to go. The Golden Gophers hit 55 percent of their field goals (21-of-38). Minnesota shot 33-of-44 from the free throw line. Other the Golden Gophers scorers in double figures included Austin Hollins, who scored 12 and Julian Welch, who scored 15. Cammeron Woodyard scored 22 points and corralled four rebounds for Penn State (9-10) in the game. The Nittany Lions struggled from the floor, shooting 30 percent (18-of-60). Penn State went 23-of-28 from the charity stripe as a team (82 percent). The Nittany Lions also got double-digit efforts from Jermaine Marshall, who scored 12 and Tim Frazier, who scored 20. Both teams had 30 rebounds in the game. Minnesota trailed 23-15 with 6:59 to go in the first half, but went on an 18-5 run over the next 5:47 to take a five-point lead. Coleman finished the run off with a free throw, which helped Minnesota lead 33-31 at halftime.

HALFTIME: Cammeron Woodyard's been a spark for Penn State, but the Nittany Lions trail Minnesota 33-31 at the break. In the first 20 minutes, Woodyard scored 15 points. The Golden Gophers have the lead at halftime due in large part to their ability to get to the foul line. Minnesota went 10-for-13 on free throws in the first half. The game was tied 13-13 before the Golden Gophers went into a funk, going the next 3:00 without scoring, and allowing Penn State to take a 20-13 lead with 9:34 to go in the first half. The Nittany Lions hit four threes in the first half, shooting 44 percent from deep. Minnesota's leading scorer, Rodney Williams, has been shut down thus far. The junior enters halftime with two points, well below his season average of 10.4. The Golden Gophers' Joe Coleman already has 12 points.

Ohio State 80, Indiana 63: BOX | RECAP | SCOREBOARD

FINAL: Lenzelle Smith Jr. scored 28 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lift No. 5 Ohio State to an 80-63 win over No. 8 Indiana on Sunday at Value City Arena in Columbus. After going into the break with momentum, Ohio State (16-3) kept its foot on the gas to start the second half. The Buckeyes led 20-12 in the first before they widened the margin to 23 points with a 17-2 run that ended with 19:38 in the game. Ohio State broke out for a 20-5 run to take a 13-point lead with 11:28 to go in the first half. Evan Ravenel knocked down a free throw that capped off the run by the Buckeyes and helped Ohio State lead 35-14 at the half. The Buckeyes shot 53 percent from the field (31-of-59). Ohio State shot 6-of-16 from three-point range during the game, good for 38 percent. The Buckeyes also got double-digit contributions from Deshaun Thomas, who scored 11, William Buford, who scored 12, and Jared Sullinger, who scored 16. Cody Zeller contributed 16 points, yanked down seven rebounds, and made 7-of-9 shots from the floor for Indiana (15-3) in the game. The Hoosiers also got double-digit games from Jordan Hulls, who scored 11 and Christian Watford, who scored 13.

HALFTIME: Lenzelle Smith Jr. scored 18 points for No. 5 Ohio State in the first half to carry the Buckeyes to a 35-14 lead over No. 8 Indiana. The Hoosiers were ineffective from the floor, shooting 27 percent. Indiana trailed 20-12 before allowing Ohio State to go on a 15-2 run to close the half. Trailing, the Hoosiers went cold, going 7:18 without a point while the Buckeyes went on a 12-0 run to open up a 32-12 lead. Indiana has been able to keep Ohio State's leading scorer, Jared Sullinger, under control thus far. The sophomore enters halftime with two points, well below his season average of 17.4. The Buckeyes shot 5-of-9 from beyond the arc in the first half (56 percent). Cody Zeller led the way for the Hoosiers in the first half, with seven points and four rebounds.
