FINAL: Draymond Green scored 22 points, grabbed eight rebounds and handed out five assists as No. 7 Michigan State defeated Iowa 95-61 on Tuesday at the Breslin Center. Green and Keith Appling both had solid performances for Michigan State (15-2). Green knocked down 9-of-12 shot attempts. Appling scored 15 points, contributed nine assists, and shot 6-of-11 from the field. Michigan State shot 62 percent from the field (37-of-60), including 56 percent from downtown. Michigan State also was able to secure second chance opportunities, grabbing nine offensive boards. The Spartans led 30-22 in the first before it widened the margin to 26 points with a 20-2 run that ended with 19:30 in the game. More Michigan State scoring came from Brandon Wood, who scored 12 and Travis Trice and Derrick Nix, who each scored 10. Aaron White had 15 points, yanked down five rebounds, and went 5-of-7 from the field for Iowa (10-8) in the game. The Hawkeyes, who shot just 37 percent, also got double-digit performances from Devyn Marble (12), Matt Gatens (11) and Melsahn Basabe (10). The Spartans never trailed in the win, their 15th straight victory.

HALFTIME:  No. 7 Michigan State holds a 46-24 lead over Iowa at halftime thanks to a high-flying offense. The Spartans led by as many as 24 points in the first half and never trailed. The Hawkeyes went into a funk with the score 30-22, going 5:40 without a point while Michigan State went on a 16-0 run to open up a 46-22 lead. After already giving up six offensive rebounds to the Spartans, Iowa will have to keep Michigan State off the boards in the second half. The Spartans moved the ball in the first half, accounting for 15 assists on 19 field goals. Nine Michigan State players scored in the first half. The Hawkeyes demonstrated their offensive efficiency by racking up six assists on 10 baskets. Draymond Green is putting together a nice game so far for Michigan State. The senior has eight points and four assists. Iowa's Aaron White had a big first half, with eight points.

Illinois, 79, Ohio State 74: BOX | AP RECAP | SCOREBOARD

FINAL: Brandon Paul scored a career-high 43 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lift Illinois to a 79-74 upset win over No. 5 Ohio State on Tuesday at Assembly Hall in Champaign. Neither team could seize control of the game, as there were eight lead changes. Illinois (15-3) hit 60 percent of its field goals (27-of-45). The Fighting Illini shot 11-of-18 from three-point range during the game, good for 61 percent. More Illinois scoring came from Meyers Leonard, who scored 14 and D.J. Richardson and Joseph Bertrand, who each scored 10. Deshaun Thomas contributed 23 points, yanked down six rebounds, and made 8-of-12 shots from the floor for Ohio State (15-3) in the game. The Buckeyes shot 47 percent from the field (31-of-66). Ohio State crashed the offensive glass effectively, grabbing 13 offensive boards. The Buckeyes also got double-digit contributions from Aaron Craft, who scored 12, William Buford, who scored 15, and Jared Sullinger, who scored 21. Free throws played a key role in the outcome, as Illinois not only went to the line eight more times than Ohio State, but made the most of its opportunities, shooting 14-of-17. The Buckeyes committed 15 fouls and shot 7-of-9 from the line.

HALFTIME:  No. 5 Ohio State took full advantage of the stellar combination of Deshaun Thomas and Jared Sullinger, ending the first half against Illinois up 39-34. Thomas scored 11 points and shot 4-of-5 from the field and Sullinger scored 13 points. The Fighting Illini trail in spite of Brandon Paul's 15 points. Neither team has been able to take control of the game as the lead changed hands five times. Illinois trailed 23-15 when it broke out for a 10-0 run to overtake the Buckeyes and seize a 25-23 lead. Ohio State was able to put the clamps on the Fighting Illini's leading scorer, D.J. Richardson. The junior is averaging 13.2 per game for the year, but has just three points. The Buckeyes hit four threes in the first half, shooting 50 percent from deep. Ohio State had eight offensive rebounds in the first half, leading to second-chance opportunities.
