There were a couple of Big Ten women's hoops games Saturday and both resulted in rather surprising upsets, including Michigan handing bitter rival and No. 11 Ohio State its first loss in a 73-62 decision. In the other game, Michigan State upset No. 19 Penn State, 75-65, on the road. Taylor Alton scored a career-high 20 points to help the Spartans card the upset. Michigan State 75, Penn State 65 BOX | AP RECAP

(AP) Taylor Alton scored a career-high 20 points and Michigan State held off a late Penn State rally to upset the No. 22 Nittany Lions, 75-65, on Saturday. Alton hit six 3-pointers and had 11 of the team's first 16 points as the Spartans built an early 18-9 lead. When Alton went to the bench, Porsche Poole took over – scoring 10 points during a 15-2 run to help Michigan State build a 22-point lead.

Michigan 73, Ohio State 62 BOX | AP RECAP

(AP) Courtney Boylan scored 19 points and Sam Arnold added 13 to help Michigan hand No. 8 Ohio State its first loss of the season with a 73-62 victory Saturday night. The Buckeyes (15-1, 2-1 Big Ten) were looking to extend their longest win streak since 2007 to 16 games.
