Seeking its third consecutive win in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge, the Big Ten jumped out to a 4-2 lead in the annual series Tuesday night. No.2 Ohio State blasted No. 4 Duke (recap), Northwestern beat Georgia Tech (recap), Illinois topped Maryland (recap) and Purdue put away Miami (recap), while Michigan fell at Virginia (recap) and Iowa was no match for Clemson (recap). The Big Ten needs three more wins to seal its third straight Challenge victory. In the event of a tie, the Commissioner?s Cup will remain with the conference that won the previous year.

Virginia 70, Michigan 58 | BOX | AP RECAP | SCOREBOARD

FINAL: Mike Scott scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lift Virginia to a 70-58 upset win over No. 15 Michigan on Tuesday at John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville. Scott and Joe Harris both had good games for the Cavaliers. Scott shot 6-of-11 from the field. Harris had 18 points and hauled in seven rebounds. Neither team could seize control of the game, as there were eight lead changes. Malcolm Brogdon had a quality shooting game, nailing 5-of-7 shots from the field and scored 16 points. Virginia shared the ball to the tune of 16 assists on 22 baskets. Along with Scott's work, Harris' stellar play, and Brogdon's stellar play, Sammy Zeglinski tallied 11 points. Evan Smotrycz contributed 10 points, corralled five rebounds, and knocked down 4-of-4 shot attempts for the Wolverines in the loss. Zack Novak shot 5-of-8 from the field and scored 12 points for Michigan. The Wolverines shot 10-of-22 from three-point range during the game, good for 45 percent. In addition to Novak's performance and Smotrycz's contribution, Trey Burke scored 11 points. Winning the battle on the boards was crucial for the Cavaliers as they grabbed 33 rebounds to 24 for Michigan. Not only did Virginia go to the line 15 more times than did the Wolverines, it made the most of its opportunities, converting 17-of-22. Michigan committed 20 fouls and shot 4-of-7 from the line.

HALFTIME: Mike Scott scored eight points for Virginia in the first half to carry it to a 24-23 lead over No. 15 Michigan. The Wolverines fired often and fired with accuracy from distance, hitting 44 percent (4-of-9) of their three-point attempts. Tim Hardaway Jr., the leading scorer this season for Michigan, has not made much of an impact through the first 20 minutes. He enters halftime with zero points. Trey Burke led the way for the Wolverines in the first half, with seven points.

Northwestern 76, Georgia Tech 60 | BOX | AP RECAP | SCOREBOARD

FINAL: Northwestern started off its game against Georgia Tech with an early 15-4 run and never looked back on the way to a 76-60 victory on Tuesday at Philips Arena in Atlanta. Drew Crawford capped the run off with a field goal to help the Wildcats lead 44-39 at the half. John Shurna sparked the Wildcats as he tallied 25 points and shot 10-of-18 from the field in the win. Dave Sobolewski had a quality shooting game, nailing 3-of-5 shots from the field and scored eight points. Northwestern hit 55 percent of its field goals (31-of-56). In addition to Shurna's production, Crawford scored 14 points and Luka Mirkovic recorded 13 points. Jason Morris had 21 points and went 6-of-11 from the field for the Yellow Jackets in the game. Along with Morris' performance, Mfon Udofia chipped in 12 points, Glen Rice Jr. tallied 10 points, and Daniel Miller scored 10 points. The Wildcats never trailed. Northwestern's largest lead was 17, which came with 3:56 to go.

HALFTIME: Jason Morris is enjoying a big game, but Georgia Tech still trails Northwestern 44-39 at the break. In the first 20 minutes, the Yellow Jackets' Morris scored 16 points and shot 4-of-7 from the field. It could've been an even dimmer outlook for Georgia Tech, which trailed the Wildcats by as many as 13 points in the first. Seven Georgia Tech players have scored. Northwestern?s John Shurna had a big first half, with 15 points.

Illinois 71, Maryland 62 | BOX | AP RECAP | SCOREBOARD

FINAL: When the second frame got underway, Illinois took control of the game and captured a 71-62 victory over Maryland on Tuesday. The Fighting Illini trailed 41-37 early in the second half, but went on a 10-0 run over the next 3:28 to take a six-point lead. Shooting 60 percent (15-of-25) from the line cost the Terrapins in the close game. Sam Maniscalco sparked Illinois as he had 24 points, went 6-of-11 from the field, and shot 5-of-8 from long range in the victory. Aside from Maniscalco's performance, Brandon Paul tallied 17 points and Meyers Leonard racked up 12 points. Terrell Stoglin scored 25 points for Maryland in the game. James Padgett was 5-of-9 from the floor and chipped in 16 points for the Terrapins. Maryland was winning 24-23 with 4:44 to go in the first half before it went on a 10-2 run to extend its lead to nine points with 1:37 left in the first half. Berend Weijs capped the run off with a field goal that helped the Terrapins lead 35-31 at the half. The Fighting Illini were more on target with their field goal shooting, maintaining a 42 percent (23-of-55) field goal percentage to the Terrapins' 41 percent (21-of-51).

HALFTIME: Maryland came out strong with a 13-3 run in the first 5:39 of the half and the Terrapins lead 35-31 at the half. Things could be worse for Illinois as Maryland led by as many as nine with 1:37 left in the first half. The Terrapins were able to draw fouls and get to the line with regularity. Maryland made 15 of 15 free throws. D.J. Richardson, the leading scorer this season for the Fighting Illini, has not made much of an impact through the first 20 minutes. He enters halftime with two points. Terrell Stoglin led the way for the Terrapins in the first half, with 13 points. Illinois' Brandon Paul already has 13 points.

Purdue 76, Miami 65 BOX | AP RECAP | SCOREBOARD

FINAL: Robbie Hummel paced Purdue with 17 points to lead the Boilermakers to a 76-65 victory over Miami (FL) on Tuesday at Mackey Arena in West Lafayette. The Boilermakers hit 54 percent of their field goals (26-of-48). Purdue shot 20-of-28 from the free throw line. Aside from Hummel's performance, Lewis Jackson added 15 points and Terone Johnson registered 13 points. Shane Larkin had 16 points and knocked down 5-of-8 shot attempts for the Hurricanes in a losing effort. To go with Larkin's efforts, Malcolm Grant totaled 16 points, Durand Scott scored 12 points, and Trey McKinney Jones scored 10 points.

HALFTIME: Robbie Hummel has nine points to lead Purdue to a 37-25 lead over Miami (FL) at the end of the first half. Eight Purdue players scored in the half. The Boilermakers have been effective inside, making 11-of-16 two-point field goals, but Purdue has struggled on the perimeter, shooting 27 percent (3-of-11) from three-point range. The Hurricanes' Malcolm Grant already has eight points.

Clemson 71, Iowa 55 | BOX | AP RECAP | SCOREBOARD

FINAL: Andre Young paced Clemson with 19 points to lead the Tigers to a 71-55 victory over Iowa on Tuesday at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City. After going into the break with momentum, the Tigers kept their foot on the gas to start the second half. Clemson led 25-18 late in the first before it widened the margin to 23 points with a 23-7 run that ended in the middle of the second half. The Tigers shot 51 percent from the field (28-of-55). Clemson was hot from long range, hitting 11-of-21 threes for a 52 percent night from beyond the arc. To go along with Young's efforts, T.J. Sapp chipped in 13 points. Josh Oglesby scored 15 points for the Hawkeyes in the loss. Iowa had trouble finding its touch, shooting just 29 percent (16-of-56) from the field.

HALFTIME: Clemson went on a 9-2 run to close the first half on a high note and leads Iowa 34-20. Seven Iowa players have scored. Matt Gatens, the leading scorer this season for the Hawkeyes, has not made much of an impact through the first 20 minutes. With zero points, he will need a strong second half to get to his usual level of production. Seven Clemson players scored in the half. The Tigers fired often and fired with accuracy from distance, hitting 50 percent (7-of-14) of their three-point attempts. Iowa's Aaron White already has four points. Clemson's T.J. Sapp had a big first half, with eight points.

Ohio State 85, Duke 63 | BOX | AP RECAP | SCOREBOARD

FINAL: Aaron Craft scored 17 points and grabbed five rebounds to lift No. 2 Ohio State to an 85-63 win over No. 4 Duke on Tuesday at Value City Arena in Columbus. Craft and William Buford both had good games for the Buckeyes. Craft handed out eight assists and went 7-of-11 from the field. Buford had 20 points, grabbed five rebounds, and knocked down 8-of-15 shot attempts. Ohio State hit 59 percent of its field goals (35-of-59). The Buckeyes were able to carry momentum into the break and sustain it to start the second half. Leading 36-26 in the first, Ohio State used a 17-4 spurt to open its cushion to 23 points with 17:32 in the game. Along with Buford's performance and Craft's stellar play, Jared Sullinger scored 21 points and Deshaun Thomas added 18 points. Mason Plumlee tallied 16 points and yanked down 11 rebounds for the Blue Devils in the game. Along with Plumlee's work, Austin Rivers scored 22 points. The Buckeyes won the rebounding battle en route to victory, pulling down 31 boards to 25 for Duke. Ohio State never trailed. The Buckeyes' largest lead was 25, which came with 6:37 to go. With the loss, the Blue Devils' seven-game winning streak came to an end.

HALFTIME: Deshaun Thomas and Jared Sullinger have teamed up to give No. 2 Ohio State 47-28 lead over No. 4 Duke. Thomas scored 13 points and shot 6-of-8 from the field. Sullinger scored 12 points and shot 5-of-7 from the field. The Buckeyes held a 36-26 before breaking out for a 11-2 run to close the half. Ohio State never trailed in the first half and led by as many as 19 points. The Buckeyes have generated more of their offensive production from inside the three-point line, making 17-of-24 two-point field goals and hitting 3-of-9 from beyond the arc. The Blue Devils have been effective inside, making 11-of-21 two-point field goals, but Duke has struggled on the perimeter, shooting 14 percent (1-of-7) from three-point range. Austin Rivers led the way for the Blue Devils in the first half, with 13 points.
