Big Ten honors 6 players for Week 13

The Big Ten handed out its weekly Football Players of the Week for Week 13, and the final week of the season produced plenty of honorees. Six players were honored, including two offensive and defensive players of the week. See the winners in this post.

Co-Offensive Players of the Week: Denard Robinson, Michigan, Jr., QB, Deerfield Beach, Fla./Deerfield Beach

• Accounted for five touchdowns and more than 330 yards of total offense, becoming just the fourth player in NCAA history to gain 2,000 yards passing and 1,000 yards rushing in a season twice in his career
• Completed 14 of 17 passes for 167 yards and three touchdowns, moving him into sixth place in school history with 38 career touchdown passes
• Also rushed for 170 yards and two scores, giving him 35 career rushing touchdowns to move into fifth place in program history
• Claims his fourth weekly award of the season, tied for second most in conference history, and his seventh career weekly honor, the third highest total in Big Ten history

Montee Ball, Wisconsin, Jr., RB, Wentzvile, Mo./Timberland

• Rushed for four scores to bring his season total to a Big Ten record 34 touchdowns, just five scores shy of the FBS record of 39 set by Barry Sanders in 1988
• Finished the day with 156 yards on 25 carries and scored four touchdowns for the fourth time in his career
• Has scored at least one touchdown in 18 straight games and has at least two scores in 12 consecutive games this season, breaking the NCAA record of 11 straight set by Sanders
• Claims his fourth weekly honor of the season, tied for second most in conference history, and of his career
• Last Wisconsin Offensive Player of the Week: Montee Ball (Nov. 21, 2011)

Co-Defensive Players of the Week: Kim Royston, Minnesota, Sr., DB, Minneapolis, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall

• Recorded 13 tackles, the eighth time this year he finished a game with 10 or more stops, in Minnesota?s victory over Illinois
• Added his first sack on the final play of his career, and had a pass breakup in the game
• Had 11 tackles in the second half to finish the season with 123 stops, the most by a Gopher since 2001
• Records his first career Defensive Player of the Week honor
• Last Minnesota Defensive Player of the Week: Garrett Brown (Nov. 1, 2009)

Lavonte David, Nebraska, Sr., LB, Miami, Fla./Northwestern

• Finished with eight tackles, including a fourth-quarter sack, in Nebraska?s win over Iowa in the inaugural Heroes Game
• Broke up two passes and added a forced fumble and recovery in the third quarter
• Was part of a Nebraska defense that limited the Hawkeyes to just 88 yards rushing, more than 60 yards below their season average
• Claims his first Big Ten Player of the Week honor
• Last Nebraska Defensive Player of the Week: N/A

Special Teams Player of the Week: Carson Wiggs, Purdue, Sr., K, Grand Prairie, Texas/South Grand Prairie

• Converted on all seven kicking attempts, including four field goals, in Purdue?s 33-25 win over Indiana
• Was good on attempts from 48, 43, 29 and 22 yards, and has converted his last nine field-goal tries
• Claims his first Big Ten weekly honor of the season and the second of his career
• Last Purdue Special Teams Player of the Week: Bruce Gaston (Nov. 14, 2011)

Freshman of the Week: Braxton Miller, Ohio State, QB, Huber Heights, Ohio/Wayne

• Recorded career-highs in total offense (335 yards), completions (14) and passing yards (235) against Michigan
• Ran for 100 yards with a touchdown on 16 carries, while completing 14 of 25 passes for 235 yards and two touchdowns
• Claims his second Freshman of the Week honor
