Purdue 85, Temple 77: BOX | AP RECAP

FINAL: Lewis Jackson scored 26 points and Robbie Hummel added 20 points as they teamed up to lead Purdue to an 85-77 victory over Temple on Friday at Coliseo de Puerto Rico in San Juan in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off.

The Owls fell short on the scoreboard, despite the efforts of Ramone Moore. Moore tallied 27 points. Defense was an afterthought, as both teams poured on the points. The Boilermakers shot 47 percent (26-of-55) and Temple shot 52 percent (27-of-52) during the game. Purdue was hot from long range, hitting 6-of-16 threes for a 38 percent night from beyond the arc. The Boilermakers shot 27-of-33 from the free throw line.

Ryne Smith shot 3-of-5 from the field and scored 10 points for Purdue. Khalif Wyatt had a quality shooting game, nailing 4-of-6 shots from the field and scored 12 points. The Owls shot 20-of-27 from the free throw line. In addition to Moore's efforts and Wyatt's stellar play, Juan Fernandez scored 12 points.

The Boilermakers trailed 19-13 in the first half, but went on a 21-5 run over the next 5:30 to take a 10-point lead. Jackson finished the run off with a field goal, which helped Purdue lead 34-30 at halftime.

HALFTIME: Robbie Hummel has 12 points to lead Purdue to a 34-30 lead over Temple at the end of the first half. The Owls should feel pretty good, considering late in the first half they trailed the Boilermakers by as many as 10 points. Purdue has been able to make the most of its good looks from long range, hitting at a 46 percent clip (5-of-11). Juan Fernandez, the leading scorer this season for Temple, has not made much of an impact through the first 20 minutes. He has four points at the break. The Owls' Ramone Moore already has seven points.

Northwestern 69, Tulsa 65: BOX | AP RECAP

FINAL: Drew Crawford scored 28 points to lift Northwestern to a 69-65 win over Tulsa on Friday at TD Bank Arena in Charleston in the Charleston Classic. The teams traded the lead nine times in the game.

The Wildcats, thanks to a free throw by Dave Sobolewski, led by six points with five seconds to go and yet nearly saw that lead disappear completely. Northwestern had trouble finding its touch, shooting just 37 percent (22-of-59) from the field. The Wildcats were on fire from beyond the arc during the game, shooting 39 percent (9-of-23). In addition to Crawford's performance, John Shurna added 15 points.

Jordan Clarkson had 16 points for the Golden Hurricane in a losing effort. Tim Peete shot 3-of-5 from the field and scored eight points for Tulsa. To go with Clarkson's efforts, Steven Idlet scored 14 points and D.J. Magley contributed 11 points.

HALFTIME: Nobody has been able to take control of the game thus far as Northwestern and Tulsa traded the lead nine times in the first half. Currently the game is tied 37-37. The Wildcats have been more effective from beyond the arc than the inside and might want to attempt more three-point shots in the second half after shooting 43 percent (6-of-14) from three-point range in the first half.

John Shurna, the leading scorer this season for Northwestern, has not made much of an impact through the first 20 minutes. With five points, he will need a strong second half to get to his usual level of production.

The Wildcats' Drew Crawford had a big first half, with 20 points. D.J. Magley's big game so far includes nine points.

Michigan State 76, Texas Southern 41: BOX | AP RECAP

FINAL: Michigan State went into the locker room with the momentum and came out of the second half flying as well, which allowed the Spartans to grab a 76-41 victory over Texas Southern on Friday at Jack Breslin Student Events Center in East Lansing. Leading 15-7 in the half, the Spartans used a 32-7 spurt to open their cushion to 33 points with 15:59 remaining in the game. Branden Dawson had a big performance for Michigan State, with 13 points and 6-of-6 shooting from the field. The Spartans started the game out strong with a 12-1 run, which allowed them to take an 11-point lead early in the game.

Adreian Payne knocked down a field goal that capped off the run by the Spartans and helped Michigan State lead 30-12 at the half. Michigan State shot 50 percent from the field (29-of-58). Aside from Dawson's performance, Draymond Green scored 12 points, Travis Trice scored 11 points, and Payne scored 10 points. Omar Strong scored 12 points for the Tigers in the game. Texas Southern shot just 26 percent from the field (14-of-53). Besides Strong's production, Fred Sturdivant registered 10 points and Lawrence Johnson-Danner recorded 10 points. The Spartans never trailed. Michigan State's largest lead was 37, which came with 1:10 remaining. .

HALFTIME: Michigan State went on a 17-5 run to close the first half on a high note and leads Texas Southern 32-12. The Spartans didn't trail once in the first half and they also led by as many as 20 points. Leading 18-9, Michigan State went on a 7-0 run to open up a 25-9 advantage. The Tigers' leading scorer, Lawrence Johnson-Danner, has been shut down thus far. He enters halftime with zero points. The Spartans' Travis Trice had a big first half, with eight points. Fred Sturdivant's big game so far includes five points.

Ohio State 85, Jackson State 41: BOX | AP RECAP

FINAL: Jared Sullinger scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lift Ohio State to an 85-41 win over Jackson State on Friday at Value City Arena in Columbus. The Buckeyes hit 48 percent of their field goals (34-of-71). Ohio State was able to carry momentum into the break and sustain it to start the second half. The Buckeyes trailed 11-10 in the half, but a 49-8 run allowed them to take a 40-point lead with 15:43 remaining in the game. In addition to Sullinger's production, Deshaun Thomas scored 11 points, Jordan Sibert scored 11 points, and William Buford recorded 11 points. Kelsey Howard contributed 17 points and grabbed five rebounds for the Tigers in the loss. Sydney Coleman was 4-of-5 from the floor and chipped in eight points for Jackson State. The Tigers shot just 34 percent from the field (17-of-50). Winning the rebounding battle was a key to victory for Ohio State as it outrebounded Jackson State 41-25. Free throws played a key role in the outcome, as the Buckeyes not only went to the line 17 more times than the Tigers, but made the most of their opportunities, shooting 14-of-22. Jackson State committed 21 fouls and made 5-of-5 free throw attempts.

HALFTIME: Jared Sullinger scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as Ohio State leads Jackson State 46-17 at the half. The Buckeyes shared the ball, finishing with 12 assists on 20 field goals in the first half. Ohio State was trailing 11-10 before the Buckeyes went on a 36-6 run to take the lead late in the half. Kelsey Howard and Jenirro Bush have carried the Tigers, scoring 13 of the team's 17 total points. Howard has scored seven and Bush has added six. Jackson State's Sydney Coleman already has four points.
