The Big Ten offensive, defensive and special teams players of the week and freshman of the week for games on Oct. 8 were announced this morning by the Big Ten Conference. Who do you think won them? Find out inside and watch our latest edition of the Big Ten Blast.
Offensive Player of the Week: Taylor Martinez, Nebraska
Martinez helped Nebraska rally from a 21-point deficit, the biggest comeback in school history, to defeat Ohio State in the Huskers’ first Big Ten home contest.
Defensive Player of the Week: Tavon Wilson, Illinois
Wilson returned a fumble 66 yards for a touchdown, giving Illinois a lead it would not relinquish in its win over Indiana.
Special Teams Player of the Week: Brett Maher, Nebraska
Maher converted on all six kicking attempts, four extra points and two field goals.
Freshman of the Week: Shane Wynn, Indiana
Wynn returned the opening kickoff 99 yards, becoming the first Indiana freshman to return a kick for a touchdown.
