Honoring Michigan's Patrick Fleming

Honoring Michigan's Patrick Fleming

The Michigan family suffered a tragic loss earlier this week. Patrick Fleming, a sophomore trumpet player on the Michigan Marching Band, died in a car crash Monday morning. Fleming, 20, was commuting to school from his home in Ypsilanti, when he encountered sudden traffic while driving in a construction zone. His 1994 Oldsmobile Bravada crashed into the vehicle in front of him. Fleming was traveling northbound on US-23 near Fenton, Mich. Watch our in-game tribute to Fleming.

In honor of Fleming, the band dedicated Saturday’s performance at Michigan Stadium to Fleming. Members of the band wore¬† armbands and trumpet pins in memoriam, and the band also left Fleming’s place in the field formations unoccupied.
