Just about every Wisconsin Badgers fan knows how Russell Wilson wound up leaving North Carolina State for the Big Ten school in Madison, but here’s a pretty good story from USA TODAY’s Kelly Whiteside on the background. It gets into how Russell Wilson had to make a choice but also how N.C. State had to make a choice, too.
In the article, Wilson is quoted as saying:
“My parents raised me the right way, to understand that every moment is truly special, to enjoy the opportunity you get,” he said. “At the same time, ever since my dad passed away, I recognize that even more.”
Wilson dad was a diabetic and he died in 2010 at 57. He was a lawyer who had played football and baseball at Dartmouth. Wilson’s remarkable season to date continues Saturday when the Badgers face Nebraska.
